She can barely sit up in bed...yet they don't give a shit. She's not getting parole.

Aside from the fact that you're just going by his name, and he could very well be Jewish in name only, these terrorists hate pretty much everyone and everything in the western world, so I don't see how a Jewish lawyer adds any more irony than what we already get from a Muslim terrorist enjoying due process and other fruits of western democracy.

Or the guy might have been appointed as the public defender. Can't see too many people lining up to defend this loser as the case seems neither glamorous nor well-paying. I don't really know the details but there are lots of perfectly simple explanations that would make it a lot less strange.
