No problem - which one did you get?

I've gotta say - I went through my new soundpacks yesterday and imported them into my Maschine library and I'm pretty impressed with both of them. Percussionism is actually very cool and has some of the better world/ethnic one-shots in my library now. It should be very useful for house and chillout and even some of the poppier stuff that I produce with other people. And, the Bluenote FX pack has some very useful sweeps, bleeps, etc. (only $8!). What a steal!

I have always wondered by sample packs are so expensive. I mean think about this. If there is a $100 sample pack you want it was probably done by a few guys using some great gear and took lets say a month.

Well, you can bu 50 songs for that same price, and I can guarantee you that more time, more instruments, and more people went into creating those 50 songs. Not even close to what the sample pack took in terms of effort, equipment, and man power.

Yes, I understand the market for sample packs is no where near that of songs, but I still would like to see them cheaper and I believe they should be. I would spend more money overall on sample packs if they were half of what they costed, and at the end of the day, it's all about how much money you're putting into it because it's an endless and effortless supply once done.

Great example is SOR FX1 - I will never pay over $100 for that thing, but I would drop $50 on it without thinking twice. I've got a list of like 20 sample packs I want, but I just refuse to pay the asking price for them because I don't think it's fair or justified to ME. (Subjective opinion here)

If producerloops.com ever had a 50% off sale I'd probably have to take out a second mortgage on the home.

I really need to get some sample packs. I'm using absolutely no samples right now save what I create myself.

They're very helpful. Some suck (bad quality), and some don't. They're not good for melodies, arps, chords, and things like that in my opinion but the one-shots you can get from them along with splicing good sounds from loops is great. They're great for crashing cymbals, white noise sweeps, and especially FX overall. There are also a lot of high quality recordings from old analog gear that you can load directly into a sampler and play which is really nice.

I bought Loopmasters-Essential House Drumworks which was only 15$. I tried to get Percussionism yesterday but i was too late. It was a great deal.

I agree. I know a lot of people like creating their own FX, but I don't. I'd rather use samples and layer them, add my own fx to them, etc. I get much better results in a fraction of the time than I would spend trying to filter white noise myself, while leaving me more time for other tasks that I find more important and time-consuming (e.g., melodies, arrangement, etc.).

Yea I really need to get into using others samples instead of trying to work everything from the ground up. That should help my work flow since I'm not the best synth programmer around.

Yea man, for sure. Go to loopmasters.com and sign up. They let you download samples of their sample packs. I can't imagine making music without using any samples. All of my kicks and percussion are sampled and having to create them myself would inhibit my work flow greatly.

I've got a lot of free sample packs from producerloops.com I can hook you up with as well. Just shoot me a message on AOL AIM - djstephenwiley9
