I'm all for different genre playing/exploring, DJs like Howells, Garnier, Francois K, etc, but I'd be pretty disappointed too if I went to see a DJ known for "his" sound and he pulls a left turn.
A lot of DJs could learn from incorporating different genres into their set though. Really helps with peaks/vibe changes.

That's the problem. People expect certain things out of certain DJs, which in turn makes the DJ afraid of branching out to things that they'd rather do. Don't expect to hear a certain type of music, just expect to hear fucking good music.

I wish I got a picture - I only have pics him before the girl started talking to him.
But like kadomony I am an eyewitness. Not only was the girl really cute, but way into Mr. Game+Watch. She left her choice spot up in front of Desyn to go hang with him further back. I kept thinking if he doesn't get her number, I'm going to have to put him out of his misery and kill him.
Back on topic - absolutely loved Desyn's unexpected turn to Drum n Bass on Sunday. One of the highlights of the festival.
P.S. Hey, Luke, you should post up the video you took of Desyn spinning at the festival in this thread.

That's why DJs should be versatile in the first place imo. Changes like this wouldn't come as such a shock. I'm sure a DJ branching out would keep things fresh for themselves anyways. You can tell some DJs turn to new genres because they're just tired of that sound. But yes, "fucking good music" is always welcomed by me
Let's say someone isn't into DnB at all though, that would've been a waste of time/money for them. Imagine if your favorite DJ decided to move towards a direction you dislike. If Desyn gradually moved into DnB, all good. At least there was a few hours of his signature house that you enjoyed. Totally disregarding his house fanbase though...disappointing.

I'll have to upload the video I took of Desyn to YT, I just have it on my Facebook... it was him playing some more melodic prog though, not the D&B. I was browsing YT for videos and there's actually one of Desyn making the transition between 4x4 and D&B.

That's the problem. People go out cos it's a "house night" or a "trance night", not simply because they want to hear good music. If this is ever gonna change, someone has to dare to buck the trend and risk playing other kinds of music that people may not like.
A proper DJ isn't afraid to throw down the tune that has a 50/50 chance of clearing the dancefloor.
