I'll have you know that I'm running Logic 8 on a dual 1.0 ghz PowerPC G4 with 1 gig of Ram. This comp was new in 2000. I'm amazed at how well it does actually. I feel like a crybaby for posting this thread now that I put things into perspective.

You don't have to delete the source material... just turn off the instrument/FX once it's bounced (you CAN do that in Logic, can't you?).

If you make a habit of doing that and keep CPU/memory usage low, then you should be able to reactivate at least a few instruments at a time without running into any resource issues.

Plus, a little permanency is probably a good thing, forces you to stop fiddling with minor details and just get things done.

Logic does this automatically once a track is frozen.

Don't feel too bad. I'm using Cubase 5 on a PC and constantly get a smiliar error to yours, "CPU Overload." Never had these problems on the same hardware with previous versions of Cubase. Very frustrating.

In Cubase you click a freeze track button, and the whole channel [say, your bass] is turned into a big as wav file and that is played instead of the FX and Synth..it saves cpu. I guess logic has this ability aswell.
