I have a powerbook g4 and I was banging out some great tunes for a while, but since I upgraded to reason 4 and installed all the ppc updates my cpu is slow as fuck. So slow that it's a pain to make music. I'm really thinking about getting someone to build me a wicked pc that is really powerful because the $2500 mac pro just seems ridiculous. Next year it will probably be obsolete. I paid $1500 for this computer and now it's obsolete. The only thing my g4 is good for now is making loops. And straight up, I love mac, I still love my laptop, but at the end of the day it all comes down to speed and I think pc can do it just as fast as mac, but for cheaper. What do you think?

PCs become obsolete faster than Macs as a new CPU or Graphics Card is only ever a few months away. I have a 3 year old Intel Mac and have no real need to upgrade. PPC is obsolete though. If price is a factor then get a PC. Personally, I couldn't go back to windows.

I do understand what you are experiencing here actually, despite continuously fighting the Apple/Logic corner. I have often looked back, and thought to myself the same thing - that my creative juices just don't flow as smoothly as they once did (which happened to be on a PC).
Granted, the time I WAS feeling creative all the time, I was making some pretty awful music, but I was intrinsically happy with my input and output. Now that I have my dream Mac system and audio peripherals (for my needs) I find myself staring blankly into the blank arrangement more than ever!
However, my issue I am convinced isn't because of the Apple switch itself.. Weirdly, it's almost as if the newfound efficiency of my workflow, less frequent crashes and lesser stress levels have actually led to a decline in my ability to "create" as well... As if frustration + instability = creativity! That isn't to say I don't get 6 hour blocks these days when I can't tear myself away, but it just happens far less often now..
Maybe there is a higher power at work here.... ?!
