I get the impression he wanted us to think these CDJs are groundbreaking.

While the prices are ridiculous those are MSRP. I'm guessing they will start out at 1800-1850 in store. I'll wait until they come down to 3k for a pair and then pick them up.

Meh... As mentioned needle search is awesome. Beatgrid is cool too. Looping up multiple players even if it is by cat5 is pretty handy as well (at least they thought about it and implemented it).
But, there's nothing 'new' there. It's been 8 yrs since they introduced the 1000's. They seem to have only caught up with the laptop generation rather than introduce something radically new. (Tough to do these days i'll grant you that)
I'm sure the way they're looking at it is, 'Spend $4300 with us and you get everything you'll get if you buy a DVS system (With top of the line Macbook Pro as laptop lol) yet you'll still be able to play your CD's DVD's and all other supported formats.
My fear for them is that I think they've put the CDJ2000 slightly out of reach of the average bedroom dj. The 1000 was excessive but people were able to make excuses to get them. The 2000's are just too much IMO. Obviously you could go with the 900 but I'm spending that kind of money already.....
I don't mind the look of them though. They played it relatively safe.
of course it's out of reach for the average bedroom dj, this is obviously aimed for clubs that often have big names coming through on a regular basis, djs that are playing multiple sets a week and anyone else that is in need to have large amounts of music at their fingertips while eliminating the need to be staring at a laptop screen
even the 1000 was overkill for the average bedroom dj (hence the introduction of the 800 and now the 900), it still made touring and working dj's jobs a lot easier, this intends to do the same
i know this is going to make my life easier
what i'm wondering though is if they'll offer the organizing software without having to buy the unit so if you do get to play on them, you can organize your stuff beforehand without owning one of the units

The new Pro DJ Link feature is awesome. so technically you only need to bring one usb stick / SD card to a gig. I love the idea of not having to bring a laptop, controller, and cables but i didnt see anything about it having FX. So youll still need an effector if you dont have a djm mixer.

The 1000's were over kill yet how many people have them in their bedrooms? I dunno I just don't think these units will sell as well (credit crunch or what not) as the 1000's have for them over the years unless the price goes down after the first year. Which from what we've seen in the past few months (prices actually went up) is hardly going to happen.
I've seen them for £1499, that's nearly €1700. That's INSANE money.

Prepared sets, looping, all those fancy wave forms, effects and color lights what a load of crap. Actually all you really need is good music + nice transitions and thats it.
