Ok the youtube quality is not that bad at all so that’s the one I’m reviewing.
The reverse cymbal at 14 seconds is too loud, and every time it plays afterwards. I try to set all my cymbals/crashes as low as I can so you can just hear them. The one at 14 seconds hurts my ears. This is not a quality issue its just too loud imo.
I like the little bit of perc work so far, its simple and it has a nice swing to it.
I think you should add some bass however before the bass drops in the beginning. Open up a pad and put it on a low octave, something with subtle filter lfos to add some dark atmosphere and tension before the bass drops. I understand it’s the intro but I think it would work well with what you have. If you don’t do that then bring then melody up a tad. Sounds like its sitting just a tiny bit low in the mix.
Really don’t like the sweep at 56. It’s a nice sweep don’t get me wrong it just seems too convenient. I think actually some hi pass would work at that point before the bass drops. If not just take that sweep out and do something more uniform for the track.
Ok now with everything else going on the melody seems a bit overtaken like I expected. That just goes back to the levels being to low.
I do like the pluck though that’s the one thing I have no complaints about, kinda wondering what it would actually sound like with a bit of vibrato.
Between 2:16 and 2:20 I hate the fill, its too random and chaotic, then it seems like you’re just randomly adding reverse cymbals. At 2:30 take that cymbal out, then again at 2:39. Not only is it too loud but its being overused now too. If you need an idea at 2:30 put the last note of the melody though some heavy chorus and have it slowly fade out at the piano comes in, you def do not need that cymbal and its annoying at that point.
Ok I do like the bass, another one of my favorite parts. The kick overall gets a little tiring to listen to it just sounds flat like theres no real depth to it. Get something more bouncy, something a little sharper with a nice thumpy feel. The one you have now seems more square then round. Overall the mix itself sounds a bit drifty and lost. Like its going somewhere, but it seems to take too many pit stops. Hard to explain. Overall I notice a lot of familiarity in this track with my own work. My kicks tend to sound like that, like somewhere in the process they just flatten out either from overcompression, bad mixing, or the sample itself is a poor choice. You have good ideas, and its obvious you’ve been producing for some time (I’m guessing around the same amount of experience I have – started in 2003) But I’d say next time maybe actually draw on a piece of paper the way you want to structure your track. Just sounds like a lot was done on the fly. And I’m aware its an incomplete track but I am basing this completely on what you already have.
And I criticized the track cause I thought that’s what you were looking for. I could have easily just posted “I like it” (and I do) but that leaves you with nothing to really work with. G/luck!

And when I said a bass pad with filter lfos this is what I mean:

did the same thing in the begining of one of my tracks. But even the one I picked for that is terrible so I'm sure you can find something better.

i dont really have anything bad to say about this track pal i quite like it from beggining to end, i think the main pluck thing could be better imo, sounds to dry not much stereo to it. I like the melodies the overall progression and i like that fill thing you got going on too, you obviously know how to make tunes well keep it up!

Hey man, pretty solid track...Few things though,
I would add some extra percussion, some more closed hats, with a bit of swing maybe, just to give it that extra bit of groove which I feel its lacking at this moment.
I really like the lead, good job with that man, bass is pretty nice, how about a nice rolling bassline, to add more energy to the track also man.
Really don't like your fills or glitch, if thats what you used, a tad overused, and as Robby said, slightly chaotic at times.
Not a huge fan of the piano melody either man, the actually sound and notes are fine, just need it played a bit slower.
Also, I feel in the main breakout (climax) of the track, the bass is sitting way out of the mix, again here i would have some more perc etc.
Aside from this, you have the makings of a pretty strong track dude.
Keep her lit

The reason I said I didn't like the fill is because it doesn't seem to fit the overall pace of the track.
The fill is fast and energetic but the track seems slow and steady. (for the most part). A fill like that I'd use in something faster paced and more energetic.
And as far as the cymbals being too loud comment, I use the bose triton headphones which are known to color the low and hi ends, but the clarity and depth is ridiculous. So I switched over to my monitors and the cymbals still sound the same.
If you have ever heard DJ Yahels - Voyage, there is a clap in that track that does the same thing to my ears. When the clap hits my hearing actually drops out for like a milisecond then comes back. And if I hear it again and again I actually get an uncomfortable feeling in my ear drum and need to turn it off.
I'm not sure if I have sensitive hearing or what the deal is, but it does bother my ears.
