miami hotels have TERRRIBLE ratings....whats going on?
6600 collins ave is waaaaay down south beach. ur gunna be paying a ton in cab fares just to get down to around 8-17th and collins where the big hotels/restaurants/clubs are. i stayed around 44th n collins a few years ago and cab fares cost a ton. the catalina hotel deal was the best one i think. walkin distance to everything and people who have stayed there loved it.

The Clay is always a good bet (stayed there 3 times for WMC), but I need a change. I was almost going to stay at the Chelsea but didn't seem comfortable for 4 people. (I justed checked their prices and they are high). The Mondrian also had a deal but is also highh (again, I think only good for 2 people).
Wait a bit for the specials to start coming out if the prices are high.
I might look into a condo this year if I have enough people.
On the other hand, if accomadation is too high, I may just not go.
As far as flights, the Virgin sale didn't discount anything for SFO-FLL. It was 249 each way! Again, I don't think March is being discounted yet, so I would wait until it is.
Also the Orbitz deal is not what you think...you only get the refund if someone else books the exact same itinerary through orbitz at a lower price. Just because Virgin lowers the fare and it shows up on oribtz search, doesn't mean you will actually get a refund!

hmm good point, i will look at booking one ways then since it seems like many airlines dont discount for doing a roundtrip.

i dont know miami, but i saw collins was a street mentioned by ta's. guess 6600 is no good and something in the 1000's would be fine(the beachcomber) If a hotel at $150 is going to cost $20 cab each way to get to where you want to be, then may as well just get the $200 room in the middle of the madness.
Thanks for listing some hotels by name so i can get an idea of the "ideal" location.
