I taught English and Spanish in a cram school before teaching at university. It was so awesome I could barely contain myself. I'd have girls look at me as if I were the best damn thing to have ever uttered a word in English to them simply because of my pseudo-Cockney accent - and I'd keep throwing concepts in linguistics all the time, to no avail. At university it is not so obvious, but you can feel it. I've had passionate glares at the oddest of times. When all is gloomy and dorky in the life of a professor, I'm sure young girls help him keep his pecker up!

How much of that was the fact that you were a professor and how much of it was the fact that you were a foreigner with a cool accent? ;-)
