I love the weather here though. It really doesn't rain as much as you think. New York and Miami get far more rain than Seattle does. It just is gray around here during most of the winter. The sky is a matte gray that lends no definition to depth or height or anything.

There is a reason suicide rates are higher here...

But really it is grand, within 2 hours you can be at the beach, the mountains, the desert, a rain forest, on some of biggest or wildest rivers in the country, or any number of amazing out door activities. Canada is also right up the road, only about 4-5 hours drive from Seattle to Vancouver.

I think when I'm done educating myself and conclude the grants that pay for my education, I'll head for the big island of Hawaii. I can be a pool girl at this resort just up from Kona Coast. It's gorgeous and the weather is delicious.



I wanted to buy some land and create a coffee farm above Kona (Kona Coffee is exquisite) but the coffee plantations are being poisoned by the VOG (volcanic gases mixed with the coastal fog).

In the most glamorous parts of CA, its not over 80F all that often. I've lived in Palo Alto (near San Fran), San Marino, and Rolling Hills (latter two are in Los Angeles County) and the marine layer tends to pull the temp down though lately, I dunno, there is not that great of a marine layer. However, you'd have to go to the desert to get consistently warm weather and the desert sucks.

This summer it was 100 for like 2-3 weeks total. Otherwise, it was like 75. So awesome.

UCSB is a great school. It's a top party school too, if you're into that thing. I absolutely love the environment up there.

By the way, in my opinion, it's not chilly until it hits below 15º... and, even then, I wouldn't dare to call it "cold" unless it's somewhere around 10º, or colder.

Above 30? No way! I can barely stand it here in a city as wet as the Sahara, I can't imagine how I'd survive that near the coast
