No it's not. You can even save your device chains for future reference and projects. Just save your device chain and open it up on another channel.

This goes to my point about being limited: Why bother with it when most other programs let you copy device chains just by holding a key while clicking, have all manner of automation curves and don't have issues with undo.

These are nearly essential basics IMO, and witout them, it just makes for extra work.

@first paragraph: you just proved my point, you HAVE to save a device chain just to open it in another channel. And what if you wanna just copy one or two effects on an FX channel that has like 5-6 effects you're basically fucked into saving a device chain OR saving a preset everytime you want to duplicate device(s) to another FX channel. Its jsut more work.

@second paragraph: I like that myself more than an Undo not picking up virtually anything that I would like to Undo like FL Studio does. Different strokes, i guess.

@third paragraph: I dont think you understand what I mean when I say duplicate. I think I know what you are getting at but Im not talking about painting notes/clips/blocks, what I mean by duplicate is say you want to to copy a part of the whole arrangement. In Ableton u just select the section then press CTRL+D and its done and you can use that simple CTRL+D to duplicate pretty much anything instantly (full channels, clips, midi notes, etc)

Yeah automation curves is the only real thing Ableton lacks.
