As someone who has always been a healthy bastard, I find people who are so unrelentingly nice and cheerful that you can sometimes feel them straining to be unbearable wankers. Nobody is happy all the time, and anyone who tries to be nice all the time is obviously fake. Their behaviour is contrived and forced, an attempt to cultivate an image rather than express genuine emotional states.
