There's only been one Olympics in the southern hemisphere, right? I think it's gotta be Rio - with the infrastructure development already underway for the 2014 World Cup, it seems a no-brainer.

I love Chicago, but an Olympics there would be so... boring.

So twice in the southern hemisphere. Both times were summer Olympics. Never have the winter games been there.

Aside from perhaps Chile, I'm not sure if there even is a place in the Southern Hemisphere that could host a proper Winter Olympics.

Actually, there are just two seasons in tropical regions: wet and dry (the dry season being just slightly colder here in the South than the wet season, but it's hardly something I'd call "winter"). TA Weather Wizards may feel free to correct the fact that "Tropical Savanna Climate" is just one of the different types of tropical climates, but this is the one prevalent in Rio and Brasilia, so I don't really care about the rest

I reckon New Zealand could give it a try... now, as far as South America is concerned, Chile and Argentina do have enough snow, and I think both countries are capable of organising such a huge event. Unless, of course, the Kirschners keep dragging Argentina to failure.

I agree that the 2016 Olympics will be in Chicago or Rio. Probably Chicago because Rio just hosted the World Cup in 2014...can't give too much attention to one location in such a small span of time.
