It's hard to top mixes like Contact/12 Hours/Mimesis. You're a talented DJ but it's hard to make each mix better than your last! I think it was good to stop the set where you did, I would way rather listen to a faster mix separate.

I'm not a massive fan of longer DJ sets for home listening. There's a different style of programming required for a longer set, and it's pretty difficult to keep a set taut and interesting.

John Digweed said something about how a DJ set in a club over several hours involves a series of anthemic peaks balanced out with plenty of lower-key tracks so the dancefloor doesn't get knackered. On a mix CD he cuts out the low-key tracks and just plays the best in a concentrated dose. I agree, and 60-80 minutes is an ideal length for a set at home.

Just took a listen. First, I think this is not house set in its literal sense, since this music is much closer to the progpsy genre than to house (which is a good thing considering my tastes ). I loved the first track, excellent bassline and nice groove that really set a wonderful mood. All the tracks actually have that mood even though some of them were faster or meaner (if mean is even the exact word but cant find a better one). Definitely a set for home as previous posters said, this has to be experienced in a nice sofa, beer on the table next to you and a beautiful view, somewhere far from the city. It was really relaxing for me.

Mixing was good and it didn't ruin the flow in any moment. It doesn't need to be harmonic, actually I prefer to understand when a new track kicks in so for me mixing was spot on. Can't think of any negative remarks, the set had a purpose and it fulfilled it. Well done!

BPM for me has to do nothing in my opinion towards is this relaxing or pumping music. Yeah, some tracks in the set (actually almost all of them) would work in a club but they also have relaxing melodies, atmospheres (in most of the part) which are enough for me to feel relaxed. 160 bpm music can also be made in a relaxing way. The groove which you mention is completely subjective for sofa or club music. Even some ambient has a groove that can shake my ass but would I appreciate in club while wanting some dancing? No. This is what I meant.

Well I guess, judging by your explanation, that my heart is so used to high BPM that it feels this style as relaxation.

Actually as much as I am a psy head, I am also an ambient fan so I really know what makes me feel relaxed and that is not the bpm, its the atmosphere created by the track. I can give you an example with Blue Planet Corporation's Atoll


Its 150 bpm, however I am feeling relaxed after listening to it. Anyway, we are really off topic now so I will just say to whoever still hadn't listen to the set to do it now since its a very nice one!

Domesticated/Stub, another nice set you've shared mate!

I like your no-nonsense approach to track selection, which is to say I think the tracks all fit your set-theme well, and are nicely chosen! I've only heard a few of these tracks before, and would probably use one or two in one of my mixes if I had them, like Liquid Soul - Unannounced Portal. Your mixing IMO was very well done.

If you like the bangin progressive sound, you might like my inPSYsors set (see sig). Aside from the mixing (which isn't horrible), I think you'd probably like it.
