... i don't even know how to respond to this. i had some total stoner of a kid come over that i'm pretty sure all i did was feed his drug habit for a day. he played some of the finest guitar solos i could of asked for, in fact this remix placed me top 10 in a sea of remixes. he was more than content to eat some pizza, take $25 and be done in 30min.

did i get paid for my remix? nope... did he feel used? nope... in fact he helped promote it when it was done. i'm the one out of pocket on this.

i'm all for people making a living of what we do and i even offered him a royalty % if it came to that but some people man care a lot more about making music with others than money. 1 guy even turned money down if i let him do another track with me. i reach out to a lot of musicians (singers, drummers, saxophone player, guitar & bass guitar) and i can tell you people care about an end result and 99% of the time that end result isn't the pennies we make.

that is great that you reach out but they are not professionals and that is all i'm contesting. You stated in your first post to find a "studio musician" for 25$ and I merely stated that it isn't going to happen. Musicians that are good enough are good enough because they spend their entire day doing it and you can't do that if you don't get paid.

I think we are just thinking about different standards. When I think studio musician, I am thinking about a caliber of player that I can provide a score and they nail it in one take, What you are doing is more of a "band" type collaboration that has little potential to make enough money to warrant paying someone and of course the money is not the primary goal in the first place. THey aren't professionals so they benefit from the recording experience so it works out both ways.
