Once you have house music in your soul it never leaves. I started off playing funky acid house, breaks, and funky disco house. I really got into playing funky disco house and that's all I would play for a long time at clubs like Liquid Butterfly here in LA from 1999-2001. Then I started playing different styles of harder, progressive house. Then I brought it back to deep and funky house in 2003 to 2004. No matter what, it always makes its way back home to house.

I used to be the same way. Hated house! Now i love it and now trance sounds like cheese to me.

Our underground scene in Santa Barbara is growing fast. The music is making it's move from top40 to EDM. Slowly, but surely.

this is a rite of passage everyone goes though. trance is catchier and it appeals to the edm beginner more, but at some point you develop a taste for DANCE music, aka house.

So glad to see all those great Djs in there and Jason Blakemore (who pretty much influenced my sound greatly and provided the soundtrack to many great, memorable nights by both mixtape and live in person at raves from Santa Barbara to LA to San Diego to San Bernardino).

Hahaha...I have actually grown into Trance, started out with rock and metal, British punk, then found Trance, mostly through the Internet. All Trance is not created equal, much as all House is not created equal.

There is cheese and rotten egg in most genres, so I'm amused when some say that they grew out of Trance and now it's all cheese. More likely, they learned to discern rhythm, key, composition, melody, progression and style, then decided to favor another genre of music.

It's those songs that fall into the "so completely awesome that they send chills down my spine category" that I really love, and genre doesn't define them well. For me, most tend to be progressive with a techno feel that may cross-pollinate with Trance, House, Electro, whatever and create one beautiful flower.

i went from house to trance and sampled all that is in between. But its just those songs from different genres that send the chills down the spine that reminds us of why we like EDM..

Those same chills i don't get with any top 40/hip hop/alternative genre.
