Yeah programming is definitely tough. You can have a set with killer tracks and great transitions but if the programming is off it can totally mess it up.

Personally I don't agree with your placement of MRE. I love the track, but I think it's really more of a groovy, early part of a set, song. I think it kind of killed the momentum you picked up with Heaven Scent before Imagine. Though I think Imagine is a relaxed song myself, so maybe you were trying to come down from Heaven Scent with both of them? I thought Heaven Scent was the moment of the most energy in the set, but then it rapidly went back down to how it had been before.

Though, again, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Yeah, was definitely trying to bring the energy down to cap the set off. The end was a little flubbed as I had planned on throwing another track in there, but I hadn't saved the warp file in Ableton so I couldn't play it at the last moment.

I hadn't really intended for Heaven Scent to the be the high point of the set (as silly as that sounds), it's intent was to roll up the section before it and kind of segue into the end of the set. Whether it works effectively is up for speculation, obviously. Thanks again for the listen and comments though, much appreciated.

Heaven Scent is naturally the highlight for the most people. That's just how it is. I like many of these tracks, even love some. But even though this sounds good and stylish, it really doesn't go anywhere. This sets just stays in the background. Bad thing? Not necessary but in my opinion this lacks that "OMFG!"-track Heaven Scent being closest to that one.

Mixing was okay. Nothing too special but it wasn't too bad either.

I'm nothing if not a contrary bastard, so I'll go against the general opinion and say I enjoyed the programming of this one. Certainly it's way better in that respect than your last few. I thought the stretch from The Baguio Track through to Heaven Scent was the peak period of the mix, filled with all the recognisable anthems, and you did a good job of building up to that point and then winding back down.

Mixing was quite nice, although more functional than interesting. I may have been wrong, but you seemed to mix quite loose early on and quite tight at the peak, which is a technique I use when programming a set.

At the end of the day, this kind of millenial prog retrospective mix isn't going to be groundbreaking, but I personally think you're ironing out the flaws.

Out of professional curiosity, do you guys like the Bedrock remix over the Full Igorot?

I was always disappointed that Diggers used the Full Igorot mix on GU:014 over his own remix. That's the only way that compilation could have been improved. The Full Igorot mix is decent, but I just love the Bedrock mix. It's got more teeth.

Listened to this a couple times this week, sorry its taken me so long to get back on this... I enjoyed this one a lot more than your last prog set, and although I don't listen to much prog I can see a definite improvement here. I'm going to agree with System-J and say I think you built the set way better this time. Also, I noticed the tracks you picked this time around seemed to have a lot more groove to them, which is probably what I liked more about it. I really need to start listening to more of this stuff, I'll probably start checking out some of the mixes from the other prog guys on here.

Keep it up man, lets hear a set with those vinyl you got soon.
