well, just so you know XP (32 bit) can't address more than 3.7Gb of Ram. this includes graphics ram as well.

cant be more help, im almost 3 years out of date with technology. i mean, you could pick up my current system today for 50c, but im sure you'd like to buy something a little nicer...

Once you've figured out what you want, I recommend getting your parts from MSY. Don't let their utterly shit website fool you, they're actually very good, and very cheap. There are 8 stores in Melbourne, so you should be able to pick up your stuff from somewhere close-ish.

My office is literally 6 doors down from an MSY branch. We get all our stuff there. Their service is shit but their prices are great. The funny part is that they're a computer store and their website got voted 'worst in the world' recently.

Grab one of these sexy little things..

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16883103234

Uses 40 watts of power max...amazing for a dual core system. Also includes 2GB of ram and a legal version of Windows 7. Don't expect to play modern games on it, but for movies/music/web surfing, it is all you need.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for.

However, wouldn't an Asus motherboard be better than Intel? I thought Asus are seen somewhat as market leaders?

Nothing beats Intel at stock. Nothing. Why? Stability.

If you're not OCing, go Intel.

I don't think it really matters. I just like Intel as a matter of brand recognition. Also, the power supply may depend on the computer case. My own computer, has a hole in the back, because the power supply is small, so it doesn't fill the entire socket. And, I don't think you really need a fan. The CPU comes with its own fan and heat sink, and the computer case should already have fans built into it.

At best, ASUS is as stable as the best Intel boards, but not better. Why spend the extra cash if you're not going to OC, anyway? You're throwing money away.
