Yea but EA have significantly improved over the last couple of years and are actually becoming pretty decent in terms of listening to the devs.

Their deal is publishing only. Blizzard studios still operate independently and activision has no say over them, much less their development teams.

If they did, starcraft 2 would've been out by now - along with starcraft 3, 4, and a couple of subtitled starcraft games not following the numbers scheme.
