hey, so wasn't this hugely supported/sponsored by the federal Conservative government? Wasn't it Flaherty who was one of the main people trying to sell this to the provinces? Aren't the Feds paying somewhere around $6 billion to B.C and Ontario directly in relation to this taxation change?

what are your thoughts on that, resident Conservatives?

As far as im aware, it was encouraged that the taxes were to be harmonized and lowered to compensate for this change just like how they did it in eastern canada. Of course, liberals being liberals, they decided no tax breaks (unless you buy tampons) and see a nice big tax grab.

I understand the theory behind the blended tax and business growth. But where it fails is by not being revenue neutral. Also, its not appropriate during a recovery. Furthermore at 13%, business will suffer when consumers dont have as much buying power.

10% would be fair for everyone as well as an exemption on gasoline and heating fuel.

But im not holding my breath with McFinky.
