For white noise I just use Atmosphere's white noise in the wave utility, that's worked well enough for me.

i'm quite partial to Sylenth and Zebra2 at the moment

@ the OP, if you want a bunch of good synths then I'd look at getting packages like NI komplete, or the Arturia collection. They're better value and you'll find you'll use all of the stuff in them. I think for a really complete set of possibilities I'd get the spectrasonics bundle and the NI one, since that'll probably cover you for almost everything.

3xOsc works perfectly also, some reverb and lower the dry level, and put a lowpass should work great.

Refx Vanguard - Great for basses.
Sylenth1 - Great for analog sounds.
Sytrus - Kinda like a all in one , it can do FM and additive.
Morphine - Great for pads , espically those 'high' pads.
Predator - Great for bass.
