303's are awesome. Tribal drums kick ass. No supersaw is always nice. Organic sounding stuff is amazing.

I don't know about production to know what I like, but I know what I like when I hear it.

i just look for tracks with samples that "stick" (aka stand out). It does not always matter if a track is not an instant classic. Sometimes if they are a little on the empty or boring side, those samples that i liked will still be able to be used to layer in sets.

I look at the Dinky release on Wagon Repair (bought the whole album). Some tracks are really cool albeit not the kind of stuff that i would usually play. The samples are awesome in all of them though, and with the help of something else they can add a little originality to a dj set.

I especially look for tracks that I call the perfect "fillers". They are so rare that it is a real pain in the ass to find them. I mean tracks that on the one hand have as little break down as possible and not too much change of structure within, but on the other hand keep the energy level on a high entrancing level.

The man is a deep-thinking artiste who finds himself unable to fit into boring modern society, Mark. Give him a break!

i agree

when i listen to music, what affects me is the kind of total image or emotional universe that it contains. (i guess 'vibe' is the typical word for this)

i might really like specific parts in a track, but what I really listen to when I am enjoying music or buying, what i really am drawn towards is that big picture.
