I liked math and science a lot when I was little. I was a little nerd and used to read books about science all the time, and after reading the mathematical proofs in the appendix of Cosmos by Carl Sagan I carried around notebooks to write down my own math speculations, LOL.

I became less interested in math and science in high school, probably because they were harder than everything else and I was a slacker who liked feeling smart without much effort.

a paleontologist, then an astronaut, then a cartoonist, then a pharmacist (when i was doing a lot of drugs in high school, lol) and now i'm not sure. since age 13 i've wanted to be a semi-successful musician, and i still haven't given up on that one yet.

it's actually kinda interesting how many people here wanted to be a paleontologist at one time. i loved dinosaurs when i was a kid. i also find it interesting that none of the guys who've posted has mentioned any of the typical child-fantasies of being a, i dunno, cowboy, firefighter, police officer, doctor, etc.

sounds like me. it wasn't simple paying attention in high school, especially with so many privileges. i was in charge of the 'tech room' which basically fixed teachers computers and shit, any electronics problems they had, so my friend and i could write out dismissal slips any time we needed to. some days i wish i could redo highschool,

This is me, completely. I have no doubt in my mind I could still pursue those fields of study and do well, but I don't have the drive (or the desire to get into massive amounts of debt) to do it.

C'mon, most of us were kids when Jurassic Park came out. You're really surprised we all wanted to be paleontologists?

I'd stare at atlases and language books and bios for hours on end. I became less interested in that in high school because I realised I had to work on my social skills... and it worked

Hehehe, awwwwyeah. This is exactly why I passed most of my classes without ever doing any real work, lol.

I'm surprised I'm such a good essay writer, considering I never wrote any of the required ones in HS (well, until my final year when I needed marks that would get me into college, lol).

I'm glad I never worked harder than I had to in HS. There are times when I regret wasting so much time, but I don't think I'd be as happy now, had I done what was expected of me.

In short, slackers unite!

Astronaut, Astronomer, Biologist.

I used to devour any scientific type of book when I was a kid, even if I couldn't really understand it I'd just sit there and read it. No idea what happened...
