Stylus can take up a lot of HD space, especially with expansions, but I also have never had a problem with excessive CPU use there. I don't own Trilogy/Trillian, so I can't say, but I assume they both have sizable libraries - how are they on CPU? |
Atmosphere was only 6 Gb. But compared to Omnisphere it's a stupid Rompler. And yes it's light on cpu because it's from 2002 and it's monotimbral. It was great back in that time but it got a little bit old. And besides that, mac users don't have this choice as Spectrasonics have been unable to deliver a proper Universal Binary update so they had to get Omnisphere.
I'm about to look for an internal 500gb hd for my macbook pro because of omnisphere. I wish I could find sounds there more quickly, too. The categories system is well made for synth waveforms but for everything else it's a little bit vague and too crowded for me. Also I deeply regret that they didn't take it any further in terms of waveforms, and until today no expansions are available.
It could have become the only way-to-go workstation synth if only they had added more bread-and-butter sounds.
Too bad, it's probably the best synth out there, but it's kind of incomplete in terms of sound variety. We want guitar with all noises, and YES I want drums into omnisphere. I'm sure I'm not the only one. And NO, stylus RMX is not the answer because its synth engine is not the same. And Trillian... is for me just a pricey expansion library for omnisphere.
But enough whining, because besides that, I see only synth workstations do the same kind of stuff. And they cost a lot more money, and their wave expansions also do.
