I'm not sure why we don't attend some events. Maybe some events aren't worth competing in. If it bothers you that much, you should ask the owner of TBJJ. I'm sure he won't have a problem answering your questions.

Don't forget there's no one right style.
"Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend." - Bruce Lee

Ive done some training in Krav Maga & can vouch for it. Although I have no formal training in it, my brother is about halfway through the program..and has taught me some really cool stuff.
I like the self defense aspect to it. They teach some really good "real world" defense tactics to IMO. Knife, baseballbat, and they even have gun defense tactics beleive it or not. Awesome stuff.
Be warned though..the training is brutal. For his last belt promotion, my brother had about a 6 hour test to complete!

lol I've actually went clubbing and drinking with him, very nice guy. In the movie 300 he was the Spartan at the very end that was holding the two horns.
Randy Couture's gym; they have a lot of MMA classes and a full size octagon. My bro goes there and does the fighting classes and loves it (although he gets a lot of bruises). I'm starting @ this gym next week.. but I'm not sure if I will engage in the fighting.. I'm a twig.
Just regular gym fitness for me! lol
