Because this is the Pink Floyd APPRECIATION thread, duh
Still, there's some sort of emotional magnet whenever there's an appreciation thread about something you truly despise... I know I came here out of incredulity and decided to check in for the lulz.
Unfortunately, I'm disappointed, people do actually like Pink Floyd =/

Now I'm disappointed. What disinterests you about them?

So do I.
They're absolutely awesome though, it's just that some people seem to think they are the only good band in that vein.
i can certainly appreciate.. i grew up listening to 'the wall' in the back of my dads truck. I remember thumbing through all his pink floyd vinyls admiring the album covers. my favorites are probably 'dark side of the moon' and 'wish you were here'

He likes Tiesto.
And the Pulse DVD is amazing, probably one of the most impressive live performances ever recorded.

I find their music too weak and shallow. "Another Brick in the Wall" is particularly repulsive to me, both because it's unnecessarily long and because the lyrics are outrageous.

Rose: if you haven't listend to the Pulse cd, how can you be a fan?
Crazy!
Their Animals cd is great too... seems to get overlooked a bit along with The Division Bell.

Strange thing to say... so much of their music comes from deep introspective places (and often dark with the Animals and Wall albums); some is based on Waters' real life experiences he dealt with from growing up in a home with an overbearing mother and a father who went off to war, as well as the personal inner conflicts between the band coping with each other, life, and loss.

I used to be a huge Pink Floyd fan (notice my name...) about 3 years ago. I lost interest in them when I found EDM... I still like a lot of their songs but just not the way I used to.
I agree with Lira, Another Brick In The Wall sucked. It seemed to me that a lot of the songs they were best known for just weren't what I was into (besides Dark Side of the Moon of course). Albums like Meddle, Piper, Saucerful... now those were great albums.
Animals was amazing too. And the Shine On bits of WYWH were fucking epic.
