There wasn't really anything particularly complicated about supreme commander apart from the economy (and the physics calculations ). Although admitably that was pretty damn hard to muster.

But honestly, I guess my standards for complication have just been raised.

I mean compare to eu3 with the magni mundi mod
-Have to watch my back, and make sure my military doesn't appear to weak so as to tempt invasion
-Have to make sure no other country becomes too strong
-Have to manage religion and factions in the country
-Have to manage rebels and how rebellious certain areas are
-Have to keep the colonists happy and make sure the colonies are keeping a profit
-Have to manage spending on anti piracy measures
-Have to keep up with technology
-Have to make sure I've got the right national focus
-Generally have to keep the balance of power
-Keep checks on the holy roman empire
etc

Compared to making sure that I have enough mass, and knowing when to upgrade my mex it really isn't too much. Although admitably that is a bit hard to balance.

The only strategy game that I've played that I've found genuinly too complicated was probably Victoria. Where admitably diplomacy was a bit simpler, but you had to manage complex economics and politics. Which was just a bit mind melting. Although it has a lot of hardcore fans and I might try getting over the hurdle to enjoy it some day.

Honestly all you need to know with supreme commander is a basic understanding of the economy, that artillery suck v.s. moving targets, that anti air beats air, and about the navy and you can learn the rest through experimentation.

I'd definitely agree with transparent, good word for it.

Lol, jesus I didn’t say YOU’D like it though. if you weren’t into supcom then I doubt there’s anything FA can do to change your mind.

I hope you at least appreciate that the game is all about fighting and map control now, NOT the economy (so much). Its still a handful, but I never really understood how to play supcom, but FA is a million times easier.

I saw a video of Red Alert 3 and it looked pretty fun..I guess it kinda rekindled my interest in larger scale RTS games. FA is supposed to be an improvement over supcom..and supcom was supposedly better than Red Alert..so we'll see.

Defense Grid: The Awakening is pretty simple. You can get a good game in, in less than 30 mins.

I stole Red Alert 3 and still felt ripped off. I'd avoid it if I were you.
