As I've stated before, I think the scene has kind of been dying recently, Yeah, it may happen at the end of the year, but this year just seemed a little slower. We did get all the big names, and that's great, but we haven't had any of the new up and coming guys. I mean, even Charlotte got Gareth to be excited about. As said before, the guys up in Charlotte have picked up the slack, but not all of us can make the trip out there. If Charlotte can get it, we should be able to. Maybe Liquified, or any other promoters, can give is one show they know about to look forward too!

I haven't felt like the scene has died. I have, however, skipped a lot of huge events this year. Why?

1. Economy. I'm not making any more money, but the prices for gas/parking/shows/drinks/etc is on a steady uprise.

2. Scheduling. Now that I have a "real" job, you won't see me out partying on Tuesday night. Or even Thursday night. I even missed Deadmau5 due to this.

3. Venues. Maybe I'm getting too old, but staff and patrons at the clubs left in Atlanta have a way of killing it for me.

I'm not really counting on any of these things changing soon, and by the time it happens I may really be too old. So... well, it was fun while it lasted =P

I think everything was already said, but I have to repeat. The run we had at Bazzaar was pretty special. Atlanta was getting on the map. We constantly had agents calling us to book their talent in Atlanta after the experience they had here. The shows were filled with great music, good people, and an awesome vibe. CUDS also was throwing killer parties at Bazzaar as well. Then throw in the parties liquified threw in June/July and I really thought Atlanta was back. We had the same talent here that NYC and LA had. When Bazzaar closed our techno parties died with it.

As someone we should all be supporting the local talent. That helps build the scene and proves to venues that EDM can consistently make them money. I think everyone knows that the huge trance (tiesto) and house/pop (Guetta) can sell, but can the mid to small more talented artist sell as well. I've had the privilege to book and play with some incredibly talented people right here in Atlanta. You should check them out and help grow the scene.

Admittedly, it is a fantastic deal for some. I'm just a lighter drinker these days so I couldn't justify such. Although this seems to be the event discussed among my boyfriends buddies, so I might end up conning him for the ticket if I want to go out NYE.

urgh, not this type of thread again, every year................

First off Atlanta has just as much of a scene as Charlotte. I dont say one is better than the other and I come to Atlanta for shows more than most (but not all) people in Atlanta go out to shows in Atlanta. Yes we got Gareth and Blake but you got talent that we didnt get.

everyone needs to realize that this is a business, if it is profitable to bring a DJ then most likely you will get to see them. If it is not as profitable then count on the smaller promoters to try and book the DJ so they can try to build their name and hopefully turn a profit.

And that will only happen:
-If the agency lets them book said DJ, some artist you cant just say I have X amount of dollars now let me bring the DJ.
-If there is an open venue for a smaller promoter to book.
-If someone wants to risk their hard earned cash for you to have a good time

One thing that gripes me is every time there is a party that you have "room to move" because there is only 100 to 200 people there (sometimes less), people praise the party for not being rammed to the gills. Well guess what, most likely someone just lost money bringing that big named DJ and you will either not ever see that DJ again or the promoter will give it one more shot because they are trying to build the following of that DJ in the city.

We need bigger clubs. There was plenty of room to dance at dreamz... Why can't we have more parties there?

I could be wrong but I think Dreamz would be costly to a promoter. Lets also not forget, bigger DJ's make up their fee based on capacity of the venue. A venue like that would not be a good idea unless it is a guaranteed sellout and now a days the only guaranteed sellouts are (sadly) Deadmau5, Tiesto, and David Guetta.

There is a lot of aspects to throwing a party that just will never make sense to most club goer's. I do not get all of them myself, but think about it like this. No promoter wants to deprive you of good talent but it has also got to be profitable.

Heck, I want to see Paul Van Dyk at the tabbernacle again but I understand the odds of that are slim so I dont complain.
