only one thing i can see improvement with and thats the focus. auto focus sucks with video when you do record the crowd because the lighting changes so the camera is always trying to focus on a new point so it causes blur. i would say shoot with manual focus if you can.

Your right Jay, it is a pain big time! Sometimes I have to set it to manual, but I wish the small remote that came with the cam had a focus button on it. When I have it in the air it would be more convenient to remotely focus it manually from a distance. When I pan from the DJ to the crowd the focus settings are different and that makes it a pain when it's set to manual. I remember you were telling me that focus is one of the biggest obstacles you photographers face. Perhaps the more costly video equipment facilitates auto focusing better.

seems like from his track choice he tries to make it more of a concert sometimes than just a normal house set for dancing.

I've never quite understood why Joel keep saying he's not a DJ but I think now I do.

It's like going to see Daft Punk or Underworld. More like a concert, not really a DJ set

lol thank you. i don't particularly care for him in that regard. to add to your remark, i don't think he's big enough to be a "concert DJ", if we can make that a term. but he certainly appeals and capitalizes on the large crowds that go to see concert djs like armin and tiesto, of which there are appearing to be more and more by the second in toronto and around the world.

i think we can all say a concert is nice every now and then but what we really like and enjoy about electronic are those dj's that have mastered the craft (no pun intended) of taking a journey throughout their sets.

you sure about that? DJ sets are the primary form which we are used to being exposed to EDM, but guys like Chemical Bros or Underworld deliver EDM in form which is just as pleasing as a good as any DJ. probably better in a lot of cases

id say packing the O arena in london on NYE pretty much puts your in the upper most tier for popularity djwise.

Imagine air canada centre in toronto and u get the picture.

yeah true. i guess my personal tastes are more in progressive styles that build and aren't just a sudden change to a heavy bass from a quiet track like joel does often.
