I used to go alone a lot and i still do sometimes. I love it. It forces you to go out of your comfort zone and meet new people. Also i feel im less distracted and can focus on the choonage going on.

Agree with many of the others that going out alone is fine especially if you really want to see a certain DJ. I would have missed out on many good nights if I didn't go it alone. What "normal" people don't understand is that we're going for the music. They're going out for other reasons.

re: another going out alone thread

Once you've been on the scene long enough, you'll find you're almost never truly alone when you go out solo. Weather I've been w/friends or alone, I'd say ive run into familiar faces (TAs and otherwise) 95% of the time. Heck, I've even worked retail a couple of years ago and ran into one of my regular customers working as a bathroom attendant when I went out alone one night.

Best is running into another TA randomly at an event neither of you would expect to see each other. You go out thinking, "Okay, it's Tuesday night and this venue's location is so secret that I walked right past it several times before finding it, even with the location info." You walk in and within 10 - 20 minutes you run into a TA whom you last saw @ Armin at Crobar or PvD wtf!?!

I do both. I usually drive into the city so I call up a few friends in the area and see if they are going and want a ride. If not, and it's an event I really want to go to then I go by myself. Chances are I run into someone I know before I even get inside.

If you see anyone you recognize from TA just say hi, (most of us don't bite) and you will be on your way to knowing more people in the scene.

Depends on the venue/area...

I much rather go out alone if its the around the shore

Never have gone out by myself.... am not knocking those who go out by themselves tho, i just would not be comfortable at a club by myself (too shy and self-conscious )... plus i am not very good at meeting ppl in this environment.. But alot of ppl i know are into the whole scene (cuz i got em into it ) so its not usually a problem.. That being said, i do like losing my friends inside a club for a while - like to just walk around on my own or just be on my own in the middle of the dancefloor, free to dance like a fool .... I probably will have to go to alot of events alone once i actually get around to visiting my parents in dubai...

When I started going out to "real clubs"(not the ones in astoria back in 1997-1999) I would go out by myself. The first couple of times it was a little awkward being in these big places and not knowing anyone. But i soon realized that most people were there for the same thing, and that was the music. Granted I was part of the "JP Sound Factory Nation" before I became a member of TA. I also started meeting people in clubs that I would hang out with every weekend. And many of the people that i have met out clubbing have become some of my closest friends. Now, it's at the point where it's highly unlikely that I can go to an EDM event in NYC and not know anyone.
I guess the point I'm making after all that rambling on above is that Hell yeah it's fine and rewarding to go out alone. there is nothing wrong at all with it. Like many of ther other posts say, it has its great moments as well as its moments that leave you questioning why u did it. I actually miss those days sometimes, where I can go out to the club, eat some candy(not always necessary though), and just get into my own zone and become one with the music. I still enjoy the music now, but I seem to enjoy spending the time with my friends more now.

ive always wanted to go alone just never worked up the courage bc i think it would be a little weird at first and like someone said going out of your comfort zone. im extremely social though and when ive gone out with friends ive actually hung out with other people ive met there either outside smoking cigarettes or bumping into people on the dancefloor who are going out of their minds. it is fun though. i actually met my girlfriend (now ex) at a club after she stepped on my foot while dancing and apologized then danced with me for a while. you just never know what is going to happen. but i think i like the security of bringing friends incase it does turn out to be an off night and you dont meet anyone new. its really up to you. i think that if i lived in a different city i would just pony up and go out alone. i should really start hanging out with more of you guys lol.

I went to a small, underground party in Philly with Josh Wink headlining. I went with a date and Josh got on the decks at about 3 am and he was slated to play until around 7 am. We were right up front, inches away from Josh and he was tearing up the place. I was in heaven. At 4:30 am, my date said he was tired and wanted to go home.

This is one of the many reasons I prefer to go out alone.

I enjoy going out by myself. I get into all sorts of funny situations. It can be like an adventure. But when I think about it, even when I go out with a group of friends, we rarely stay together the whole night. We'll each go off on our own little missions and check up on each other occasionally.

ive only been out to like two events when i was alone, and both times were just as fun as being out with friends. especially before you know ANYONE into this scene, being there by yourself in a club with noone you know and music you love can be an awesome experience. still, having friends who love the music just as much as you do always makes for a good time.
