If you ask me, I think electronica would be much more musical if everyone stopped using teh analogz.

I noticed your dumb arse post so decided to check your myspace. And from what was on your player I would go as far as to make the effort of rephrasing your comment to something like this:-

My reasoning for this rather harsh comment is because it was like listening to what a computer would come up with if you asked it to process a complete dance track using no originality what so ever, but instead to use a prewritten computer code for production of generic musical information.

Back on topic. The original poster obviously doesn't understand how a sidechain compression setup on the kick and bass can be set so the listener cannot notice it. Get rid of all production techniques made popular between 2000 and 2010 and you still wouldn't get any real strong musical output from the usual drab boring new producers you see on places like trance addict. Because these people are technicians, and not musicians. A lack of technology wont suddenly make these non musicians any more musical. Instead they just wouldn't exist and would instead be writing computer game code or doing data entry.

I think his point is that so many non-musicians hide behind a pile of effects like an over the top sidechain or industrially strengthened kickdrum in order to overshadow the dire lack of musicality and soul within their works. And because this has become such a normal thing, young club goers have started to perceive this as being acceptable.

I guess it's a similar argument to those who say dance is crap because it doesn't have any words. Instead new dance doesnt have any emotion or soul.

Oh shit. I must be wrong about his music. If Master Van Dyk is playing his stuff it must be original and ground breaking. My mistake.

I'm not arguing that it is original or groundbreaking. I'm just stating that his music is getting support by international djs. This is usually a sign that you don't suck. IN the genre that you make, is your music played by any of the well known and respected djs ?

I'm not one to shamelessly self promote/whore myself, nor line myself up to be shot by hundreds of drones who wish to pick holes in music I would rather save for those who care for it.

All I say is what any musically minded person would be thinking. The only difference being that Im so sick of hearing crap like that I don't mind telling the truth and playing devils advocate on the matter. Crazy thing is that my comments stand up a lot more than his stupid reply to a topic that does actually have some topical mileage.

this is essentially what I am curious about. Who exactly cares about your music ? Are you signed to a label ? Do you have distribution ? Are your tracks played by anyone at any event ? Are you judging his music purely as a critic or do you have some sort of substantiation in regards to your own music .

i wouldn't bother wasting your time trying to argue with me. Maybe instead go and build up a bit of community in the music producers promotion forum. I'm sure it would be quite good if the geeky technician kids like alanzo were helping out with valuable development of the Trance addict musician promotion forum by giving critique of music and posting up his own music too.

In 20 mins of jumping on here I have started a bit of tension and debate, contributed to this topic in a positive manner, while also (hopefully) provided some helpful feedback on some music posted on the music producers promotion forum. You guys on the other hand have spent your time arguing with me about my own personal opinion (which I am entitled to voice by the way). And getting annoyed that the topic got brought up before. Stop assuming everyone else spends every minute of every day on this (usually) boring forum.
