I'm trying to help you enjoy it more. As a lover of Sci-fi and politics I figured you would find this book even more enjoyable when understood as a commontary on the Roman Empire through fantastic allagory, no? I mean come on... casting Nero as false prophet demanding all worship Rome (the seven headed beast) at the same time that the Empire is killing Christians for not paying tribute to the pantheon of pagen gods... that's just great political commentary.

Other way around... the Republican party introduced political activism to the evangelical movement in order to build a solid base of support. Why do you think it is that the evangelicals are only really politically active in the US?

Careful what you ask for... remember that G-dawg has a habit of smitting a whole shitload of people in order to purge the unacceptable (sodom, Noah, the plagues of the Exodous, etc.). I'm thinking it's best to handle this one ourselves.

I had a bright idea today of bringing back Napalm. I think it would find a use in the modern world.

Ditto. And, I'm an atheist, so it's not like I'm trying to defend myself here

That's the great irony of christianity; most atheists are better christians than most christians.

it must really sting that your spiritual brethren have nothing but bitter rhetoric to fall back on in the AGW debate. your ilk are just as, if not more responsible for turning what should be a scientific debate into a political one.

hey, maybe your fucktard buddies should pray for a healthier climate too! i mean hey, you've tried everything else to muddy the waters.

Shut the fuck up. What's your fucking problem asshole? Getting defensive because you fell for the AGW hoax and feel like a baffoon while we're in the midst of a 10th strait year of cooling and the coldest winter in 25 years? I'm not defending religion at all. All I was saying was THOSE people in the video aren't hurting anybody by what they're doing, even if they look like fools.

How many goddamn times have I said that I'm an athiest, can't stand religion, and believe in a historical context, it's caused more grief than good? FUCK! Pay attention!

I would have to agree on this (and only on this). Ideally everyone opposed should just have prayer sessions, would prevent them from actually doing anything that might actually have some affect on the situation.

Word. Even though I'm not religious, I don't care if people want to get in prayer groups and do their thing. My problem is when they try to force it on others, exploit it for financial reasons, use it for controlling purposes, or extremist behavior like jihad or, on the other side of the spectrum, that jerkoff Pat Robertson who said today that the people of Haiti made a deal with the devil which lead to their suffering (yet, 95% of them practice Christianity... wtf is he talking about?).
