Holy crap, I can't believe I got that wrong. You are indeed correct.
It seems to me that as soon as anyone mentions Goa or Psytrance the trance group shouts out "Astral Projection!" and "Infected Mushroom!" This has happened to me on previous occasions when I was seeking Goa track recommendations.
When I was first getting into electronica I tried both of these 'famous' artists, but neither of their productions have the energy or entrancing melody of the track I listened to at the start of this thread. I have not one tune by either on my computer because I don't like any (so far, that is).
Alot of Goa/Psytrance seems to be crappy tweets and wibble-wobbles with some cheesy vocal sampling about drugs laid over it. This isn't what I'm looking for. But Chi A.D. ... ::drools::
Thanks, I'll try some of this out. |
there are a lot of psytrance groups out there. Finding what you want out of the genre may be hard. Not as hard more me though. I buy albums, and psytrance artists make albums, unlike, heh, regular trance artists who plop out a single once every 6 months.
True about the crappy tweats though... Minimal trance is plaguing psytrance of late. I must've heard dozens of tunes with nothing but beats & bass and a squiggly noise here and there.
Then there is industrial trance like Skazi... which doesn't surprise me cause some psytrance seems rooted in industrial/ebm.
