From what I've read and heard it's gonna be a big let down after all the bullshit marketing hype. From what I can tell it's really only going benefit Serato users and really doesn't offer much for people already using Live apart from being able to scratch with clips.
I read that the Bridge will be free to owners of both Serato and Live but that's still quite an expensive set-up if you only own one of these programs.
Guess I'll have to wait and see though.

Support for 4 decks? Is there going to be a new scratch live interface? The SL3 just came out and my count only has three audio inputs.

I hope it doesn't come down to the Rane 68. Really not a fan of Rane mixers and don't feel like carrying a mixer with me to every gig.

could it be that you simply have to combine two of the interfaces to get 4 channels? will that be supported?

no, they've already said it would be next to impossible to use a pair of SL-1's in tandem. I think they've almost entirely ruled out a combo of an SL-1 and an SL-3 paired up too.

k. that would've been the easiest and most affordable solution. now the only way for 4ch-mixing is a specialised mixer - i have to agree that that's a pretty stupid idea. as noted above, no dj is gonna like hauling a mixer to his gigs... and no club technician is likely to shut down his complete sound system to connect it to a different master...

it wasn't designed to be a mixer that's generally portable, it was meant to be permanently installed somewhere. i'm sure you COULD drag it from show to show, but I wouldn't drop that kind of ching ($2600) down on something I'd be hauling often.

it honestly wouldn't surprise me to see an SL-4 box sometime down the road, probably at next year's NAMM show in 2011. I think the rest of us can get by with SL-3's and 3 decks just fine.

Another reason why i think Serato has dropped the ball big time.

Their SL3 box is just stupid if you ask me.
An SL 4 box would piss me off big time if I had bought an SL3 box.

Then again i don't use 4 decks so don't really care that much.

I just think they're coming across a little wishy washy with their 'partnership' with Ableton etc which doesn't seem to be amounting to much. (yet)

What really disappointed me on this upgrade was the effects. They are pretty weak and kinda hard to control.

Also, the 3 & 4 deck thing is also a letdown for me because it can only be used with the SL3 or the Rane 68. I think they should've done some sort of virtual decks for the SL1 & TTM57 users. The audio could be routed like Traktor does, where you can send one deck to the left port on one RCA, and another deck to the right port on the same RCA. Yes, that would be a mono sound, but most clubs are mono anyways.
