yes its a scam guys lol. SF retaurants I recommend are

If you bought general certs (not for a specific restaurant), they should all show under your purchase history. Those never expire. When you want to use (or have available for future use) one at a particular restaurant, you buy the specific restaurant cert. with a general cert. Was a bit confusing at first, but quite easy 2nd time through. The restaurant specific certs. expire after one year, but CA law may no allow them to expire, not sure on that.

i've seen one or two places that say it's not valid if you reserve via opentable.com

the certificates work, but they are a little misleading. I know from experience. Alcohol is excluded, tip is not included, and many restaurants have minimum purchase amounts. The minimums sometimes make it tough for just two people to get the most out of the certificate. If you're thinking you won't pay anything at all, you're wrong. Got to read all of the fine print.

have never had a problem getting my open table points....you check in, get credit for making the reservation, get seated, order and then at the end give them the certificate. $35 dine turns into $10, then 18% gratuity on the $35 you spent on the two entrees. about $17 when all is said and done,(plus $2 for the certificate so $19) which beats $35 + 15% gratuity for a little over $40.
