I read an LA Times article that if you donated to an IRS recognized charity that specified Haiti relief before 3/1/10, you can take a tax deduction in 2009 instead of waiting until 2010.

I hope they do something similar for Chile. The president so far has refused international assistance, but it was the 5th largest earthquake in the last 100 years, 100x stronger than the disaster that hit Haiti...I think they will need a lot of help too!
