MAGNUS - great stuff I'll see what happens tonight!

I have 3 sets of monitors to be clear.

Ok i thought the point of your first post was to just have 1 mix.

Did you mean you wish to be able to move from any set of monitors at will, but just hearing the main mix (STEREO OUT) on each pair? Using them as 3 separate references?

If so, then you need a monitor controller/switch such as the excellent presonus Central station (which has three sets of monitor outs).

You could also go for the SPL control 2 (excellent too) or if you've just won the lottery the Dangerous Music monitor system. I'm not going to post a picture because it will make me want one and I cannot afford it.

Ever.

There is a far easier way although its mighty dirty.

Set up your 3 sets of monitors by using 3 stereo outputs on your RME card.

Monitor set 1 -----> Outputs 1 and 2
Monitor set 2 -----> Outputs 3 and 4
Monitor Set 3 -----> Outputs 5 and 6

then just create the 1 output in the output tab under VST Connections in Cubase. Start with this being at Outputs 1 and 2.

Whenever you want to hear the whole mix through the other 2 sets of monitors all you need to do is go back to VST Connections and change the output channels assigned to the STEREO OUT!

job done

Mark

The FF400 has at least 3 separate stereo outputs. He should just be able to select between the 3 sets of monitors from Cubase's master output (assuming they're all mapped) without the need for a separate monitoring unit.

edit: yeah, what Mark said!

True, but I HATE software monitoring and find it much easier to go hardware for those things.....

so true, software monitoring is a PITA. there's nothing which can replace physical control of the volume.
