I just got a new laptop, and put AVG on it. That's all I have going now. Heard Windows Defender was decent, but I'd be up for some opinions on other options, preferably free.

I don't do porn sites, but one does come across bugs by normal browsing, no? Less of course, but still.

Sounds like you have a rootkit... When it gets that bad IMO its just time to re install windows.
Same with spybot s&d, were good programs in their day but they failed to keep up with the game.
It did say it had to restart because it found a rootkit problem. Gonna try a 3rd sweep with it now.
My reboot cds are Somewhere 250 miles away at my parents house, So I might just buy a new OS. See how much it is (I have no idea).
I got this problem from a rapidshare download site while trying to download family guy episodes.

I've just noticed its only doing it now when I go onto google searches.
Also noticing in the bottom right corner its coming up with "[email protected]" which I know is a spyware site.

No it doesn't. There are tons of compromised websites out there that function normal. When a vulnerability in a program like Adobe Reader or Flash is found, they modify them to infect computers when so much as opened.
You would be surprised, it happens to websites with millions of daily readers.
