I strongly recommend not going by bitrate tests. Go by watching the video itself through the stream. How packets are sent in streams and it being Flash (which is more sensitve than say WMV because it doesn't do such a big buffer) make that important. One hiccup in the upload can mean data lost (a bigger hiccup) in the stream. I've done a webcast with an upload speed of 100mbps but a completely unstable stream. It sucked.
Just trying to give advise from experience. Last thing you want to do is think things will be fine based on just an upload speed, set it up just before the event w/ little test time, and then have an issue. It sucks. Has happened to me more than I'd like to admit! hehe. At least if you get a chance to test beforehand, if anything happens there's no real need to get pissed. Nothing you could have controlled in the end. |
Thanks for the info Dave. Ya this time, I'll activate the other output encoders, so we can have multiple streams and capture a wider audience, we were limited last saturday since I only had one. Those of you who have iphones and smartphones, youll be able to tune in on your way up, or even at the club where you can actually interact with the broadcast while your in the audience.
Ya, the stream was set at 56k for a while, I did bump it back up to 128k and it came thru crystal clear.
