i personally use foobar
irfanview as stated before, is a godsend in windows 7
Shit never heard of that codec pack, but it does include FFDSHOW which already supports pretty much anything you can throw at it. So not sure why the other shit is even necessary. Not to mention, FFDSHOW is updated with nightly builds.

lol i'm not sure why you would even need any codec packs if you can simply install KMPlayer (which is an audio/video player with all codecs included) and not worry about a thing
and it eats less RAM when compared to WinAMP (checked it myself)

Because I rather use WMP for video unless I have to use something else. Less hassle really. And not to mention, Windows 7 doesn't even need a codec for DivX, MOV, and a bunch of other popular formats.

CCCP has a lot of nice features for stuff like MKV and OGM files. Its put out by anime watchers and a lot of their rips are multie-channeled audio/title files. FFDShow, different muxers and stuff. Its a very clean pack.

PrimoPDF for sure. Although, if you are on Windows 7, you can create PDFs natively. Also, MS Office 2007 and later do this natively.

I am compiling a set of essential windows downloads so whenever i need to do a fresh install for someone or for me, i have it readily available on my removable drive. I feel I don't have enough after looking at my drive. Here's my list as of now
AVG / Windows Security Essentials
Winamp / ITunes (for the non-tech saavy who have ipods. i personally hate the app.)
VLC / Divx
Pidgin / Trillian / other chat apps
Winzip / Winrar
Chrome / Firefox / Opera
Sopcast / StreamTorrent
anything else i'm missing?
I like 7-zip over winrar. It's free/open source, so no need to buy/crack. Also uTorrent is really nice for those who have slow computers.
Anyone recommend a good program to quickly edit id3 tags for a lot of files?

If 100% English, then MP3 Tag Tools. It is old, but it gets the job done well.
