Okay im going to go on a rampage and kill anyone you gets in my way , my Alcatel home 500 from BT aint workin , its says there is NO DIAL TONE , which is a load of shit coz i tested the socket 10 times, this means that there is a corrupt network device on my pc , which aint fixable as the driver wont install , ive tried upgrading the drivers and still wont work , ive tried to install XP over 98 and its all gone tits up , its saying No OS found on HD , im sure you have seen the error before, so now im gonna have to reinstall everything from fresh , and ill prob be back online in a few days , Ive backed a few mp3's up but only 3 Gb worth. |
Ok first, why would you need a dial tone on adsl, its always on, u just plug the thing in. no connection needed
Second, even if you needed to dial up, it is just a currupt setting, u can correct this by uninstalling the tc/ip stuff, and then when u start up yr comp again they well auto reinstal. And then you reinstal the modem if needed.
Third: Why do people change from fat32 to ntfs, i always stay with fat32, so it is easier to go back to 98, etc, and you dont get problems
fourth: unplug the hard drive take it round yr many friends, and go and set it up as a slave, and then burn everything u want from it
If you r going to do things like this always back up first.
Or do what i do, i have a 4gig hard drive for Win Xp, and everything else goes on my 60gig, so it is easy to reformat the 4 gig
Or you can do it with partitions, it doesnt take a genius to do that
So before u do something stupid talk to someone who knows.
Im lucky because i always ask my next door neighbour who job is to fix computers, and also the person who built mine
And if all else faisl talk to someone like swamper, he will point u in the reight direction
So there we go

Why NTFS?
1. It's more secure. (anything else here?)
2. It allows up to 4 TERABYTES per partition, whereas, with FAT 32, you can only have 32 GB per partition.
My friend has a SINGLE partition of 650 GIGABYTES! It's multiple HDDs in RAID 0. He told me that he has it set up this way because you have as many times more speed as you have HDDs (u have 4 HDDs, you get 4 times speed). Here's a better explanation: If you have five 10,000 RPM HDDs, in RAID 0, as 1 big partition, it'll be like having ONE 50,000 RPM HDD.
Did this answer anything you asked?
