After my European expedition 13 years ago, I figured I've skied everywhere I would ever want to ski - so I retired. What else is there left to ski? (nothing IMO).

The only place I would ever consider picking up skiing again for is South America (although my friend says Chile is not that interesting from a ski perspective - mind you he only did in-bound trails vs. cat or heli out-of-bounds trips).

[My bother in LA goes heli every other weekend in the winter (airfare from LA to Nevada, Utah, Wyoming & Montana is cheap). He skis with professional guides (the people you see on Warren Miller movies). That is what you get when you have a beacon & rebreather... This would be impossible for me to keep up. ]

Since then I have become an expert in chalet'ing. I very much enjoy the base-camp chalet experience: hot tubs, good-times, brewski and ultra-frivolity.

If TA has a ski day count me in to run the chalet experience. I run a triple-black-diamond base-camp. For me, chalet is more fun than the ski.

that's awesome man.. u have any pics/vids?

i used to compete in skiing (Super G) until age 13, when i was forced to pause for about a decade. my home town and training grounds were home to the '84 olympics.. *sigh*

skiing is still my fav sport, though now it's strictly recreational

went to moonstone yesterday, and had a lot of fun.. the snow was great.. me +1 def. down for a group outing to blue mtn.

This sounds like a great idea, and Blue is by far the best place to go locally if on a weekend. I'm totally up for it but I leave for two weeks on the 27th. So unless you guys pic another date I'll have to miss it.

Or if you are having trouble getting enough people on a weekend, we could always head to Horseshoe mid week for night skiing?

These videos are kinda lame but I thought I would share them. For some reason I think night skiing is better than day skiing.

Going down the stunt track at Horseshoe, but didnt hit any jumps cause I wasnt wearing a bucket and I was filming first person. Half pipe is fun there, but is pure ice.

How's the snow conditions? It was very icy, granualar and no powder when I went 3 weeks ago.

Where did you end up staying after the booking f-up?

I just got down from the hill. Was very good snow and weather yesterday and rode for 7 hours. Needless to say I'm one hurtin unit today!
there was 15cm last night, so the powder is amazing at the peak, but it's foggy and can't see much at the top and it's like cookie dough close to the bottom because of the temp, but when you can see... EPIC! Powder lines everywhere, and best part is... the mountains are D.E.A.D!!

The Accom. They really upgraded me to a 1 bedroom apartment. PIMPIN'!!! However, I'm still writing to them and telling them how pissed I was and although it's in upgrade in the room, that wasn't the point. They put me in Creekside and it's such an inconvenience compared to being in the village. They have the lift closed down here so I gotta bus it into the village the get up the mountain. I can still ski down to Creekside, but only Peak to Creek run, so if I have to go up the Peak chair just to come down to Creekside

I've heard that Mount St. Louis is the best of the three, although I haven't been myself and their hours kind of stink. So Blue's probably the best choice, hopefully it's not too icy that week.

I'm definitely in, I've been going out every week or two anyway, twice last week including yesterday and I banged up my knee, but it'll be healed in a few days.

If we're gonna do Blue, we should probably try to avoid the peak time (early-mid afternoon), I've only been there a couple of times but every time was nuts mid-day. Early morning or just before dark is the best time to get there.

Haha cripes, how do you do 7 hours without your muscles turning to jelly? I think the most I ever went for was 5 or 6 hours last year and that was when I was going a couple of times every week... and by the end I was so tired that I was wiping out on every run, haha.

I'd be down but I'd spend most of my time in the chalet as I can't ski for SHIT. "Snow plow" doesn't even work...I end up going faster...
