I really hope everyone is ok!

Apparently the worst is in Concepcion.. Santiago got damage but not as severe apparently. I would imagine the infrastructure is down due to power lines down (they are the first to go in an earthquake after pictures on the wall)

Also whats left of the infrastructure would be overloaded with locals and emergency services using them.

I wonder how much aid will be sent for this? Paging Wyclef!

I spoke to my mother and she said that she had heard through word of mouth that our family is alright...

Shaken but ok... THANK GOD!!!

On another note, I have a buddy down in Hawaii who was camping on the beach when awakened to an evacuation...

He's on the third floor of some structure now waiting for this wave to come...

Yeah lots of information is getting thru facebook, and were starting to get phone calls thru. we have a close cousin (where my mom and bro stayed with) who is still MIA in Valparaiso, he just built a house and my mom is worried cause he got some shady contractor to do it cheap. Hes the last of the closer family we havent heard from yet, so were a bit worried.

I wonder what the historical frequency is of major earthquakes and whether there's anything abnormal about how many we are having in the past 5-10 years.

Very scary stuff though, and so soon after Haiti - hopefully the infrastructure there is not as hard hit.

Telemundo has the best coverage, for those who speak/understand Spanish.
