At any time of the day i could be in one of the numerous situations when answering a call is inappropriate inadvisable or impossible so texting o email is usually the better option.

Texting if you know they're at work or if it's just a quick question. Otherwise, you should always be calling... wtf, bother them? In a special situation maybe, but 99% of the time, if you're worried about 'bothering' them with your call then you shouldn't be dating them

Woudnt that depend on the partner and the relationship itself. Some cant help but call eachother every few minutes or they both go mental and then there are those that have their together time and their apart time during the day and its understood that you dont bother calling unless something important is up.
