Because as much as I love them, rotary mixers are a bit of a niche market.

I was looking at buying a new mixer in a few months. Hopefully the introduction of this, like the discontinuation of the CDJ-1000mk3s, will result in a nice price drop of their other mixers.

The frequency mix mode seems butt fuckingly retardedly implemented. A relatively cramped touchscreen trying to compensate for actual eq knobs

I don't think I'd ever use it. Decent concept though.

That is one sick mixer. I doubt I'll buy it right of way. One note hopefully Pioneer separated the digital out and made it independent from the master volume. Or at least give you the option to modify it.

To answer the rotary question. I'm sure a rotary kit will be made available for the 2000. I seem to recall when the 800 was released, it wasn't until after its release the rotary add on was made available. I myself have grown fond of rotary style. Ever since I bought my Urei, and Vestax, I've been practicing with them (not used on a gig yet)and I find the transitions are much better and cleaner with a rotary versus a fader. I don't even use a crossfader, I just treat the inputs as a rotary.

I doubt Hip Hop guys would use a rotary. My DJ partner tried to mix on Vestax PM-25. He couldn't do it. I think some are just afraid of it. Most DJ's I know, mostly the younger generations, grew up on faders, and never tried rotary because it was no longer there.

Some sound reinforcement mixing consoles have gone the route of the touch screen to eliminate knobs. One model in particular is the Yamaha M7-CL. My least favorite digital console. I prefer knobs, not touch screens. Screens fail all the time, and you can't see them in sunlight.

While I mostly agree, one thing in its merit to point out is that now you'd be able to have finer control when changing multiple (3+) EQs. Trying to turn 6 knobs at once with only 2 hands becomes tricky Granted most people would rarely want to change 6 EQs at a time, but there are often situations when I'd like to change 4 gradually and simultaneously. But the screen does seem too small, there must be a better design for that.

One thing to improve on the small screen is add some type of VGA connection on the back of the mixer. This way, whatever the small screen displays can be displayed on a bigger monitor so you can see it better. It does add another monitor to the booth but I think it could benefit.
