The problem with going mainstream is that eventually the scene dies, just look what happenend to hardcore here in holland. It started underground and more and more songs made their way in to the top 40. And eventually artists like hakkuhbar and gabberpiet(who made songs that had absolutely nothing to do with hardcore) killed the whole scene. We cannot let that happen to trance!!!!

Satan (eek!)

The cheesy trance has become commerical &mainstream ie: "sandstorm, we are alive, spente le stelle". Those tracks are catchy, appeal to the masses, & easy to ingest.
I know Trance is HUGE in Europe, but I think Epic trance is dying.
Look at any record site or go to any store, there isn't that much quality trance being made. Y do u think Pvd despises being labeled the King of trance, b/c there is much cheesy pop trance being produced. There is SO MUCH prog house being made. Thats what's in, thats the Nu Breed Sound. There is a scarcity of Good trance being made which is why Pvd & Tiesto recylce the same records. Tiesto & Corsten will keep making great tunes. They have to resort to playing older tunes & classic. Digweed plays up front tracks every month b/c prog house is being made by the dozens.

Then what's your take? Y do Pvd & Tiesto play the same records all the time? Y does PVD hate being called Leader of the Trance Nation?

I'm friends w/2 up & coming DJs & frequently talk to the buyers at Satellite records, they all agree w/me.

I don't agree becuase i've geard many remixes..to say tiesto is playing all old tracks that he plays all the time is a half truth..yes he plays tracks which he mad but he does mix up styles..i can't say that ISOS2 is like Magik 6 becuase it isn't, it does have jis "signature" songs though...but as everyone eles has said...old songs aren't bad....especially when they are of the quality that he produces..

I think Trance will grow a lot more before it dies

The way I see it within every genre of music you have the more commercial stuff and tracks for the real headz.

And ofcourse like any other music there are different distinct styles within the genre. The problem is that sometimes commercial success might tempt more producers to create the commercial sound instead of keeping the scene diverse.

The thing I love about trance is that there is a different style for any mood. Hard, soft, epic, psychadelic, progressive, etc. etc. etc.

And hey if a song is good it deserves to be heard. Let it get played out, enjoy it while you do, then move on.

I'm sure we're all used to that by now!

peace out...

nope...

Alice Deejay is indeed pop, but it is meant to be.. it is not even trance!! nor is it supposed to be. darude, however IS trance, and u can count the number of pop fans on one hand who have heard anything by darude that's not sandstorm or feel the beat. Trance is not pop nor will it ever be, adn thats why it doesnt appeal to the mainstream. u cant go saying vengaboys are trance, and are ruining the genre.. the true tragedy would be if, say, picotto started making top 40 hits...

that's exactly what's happening, here in holland komodo was a super hit, and i've already seen the new video called proximus on tmf. And not only mauro picotto makes top 40 hits cause i also saw a video of marco v - in charge on the box. If every body will know all the trance songs trance will lose his special underground feeling.

trance will never fully be pop
and yes... i will agree with the fact the alice deejay was MEANT to be mainstream..
i think the alias was created for that purpose alone..
but trance itself will never be pop..
some trance will be..
but u can't say trance the genre will become just another pop genre.. coz thats nite right..
tiesto and pvd play the same tracks..
because... well i rambled on abt that in another thread.. so blah

ok i just have to say...... we do not have to listen to the radio!!!!!therefor if a really good song goes mainstream we dont have to hear it 10 times a day every day. all i listen to is my cds. i rarely listen to the radio. so if a song gets over played that means i love it and im playing it out myself. yeah it kind of sucks if you go to clubs. but i dont go to clubs that often that ill be hearing the shit over and over. if i go to a club its to see a particular dj. and other than that its only every once in a while. all i know is trance does a great thing in uniting people and if we dont want that to spread than thats just crazy. i love trance and i wish more people could get the feelings it gives me. peace!
