oh and btw, i just got back yesterday from spending 10 days in england...I LOVE YOUR COUNTRY!!! i think i'm going to study in london for a semester and then if i still like it as much, transfer for the rest of my studying days |
I've hardly done any travelling but already I like the tolerance and radicalism of Europe myself.
I think the US and the UK have far too many laws. Europe (we Brits don't really think of ourselves as Europeans) is more tolerant, radical, and is more concerned with having a good time than anything else. That's not to say the Brits don't know how to party! Britain still has among the world's best lineups. It's just that outside of partying, in living generally, Europe seems more relaxed.
I'm surprised you like London. It's a nice city but I think the people in London are generally unfriendly, and it's too packed with tourists for my liking. I love Berlin though, I don't care if it's ugly. I am thinking of living and working in some liberal European city for a while, somewhere like Berlin, Amsterdam or Prague. Beer and pills in Prague are supposed to be insanely cheap, but I don't know about it's trance and techno scene. Amsterdam would be good because of it's laws, it's nightlife, and the fact so many Dutch people speak English. And Berlin interests me because it is one of the best cities in the world for techno music.
If you do come to the UK though you must check out the North. Sundissential North, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher etc are our main midlands/northern clubs. Also living in London costs a LOT! It must be one of the most expensive cities in the world! The North East is probably the cheapest place in Britain, but is a bit behind as far as trance goes.
