On the whole, I say it wasn't quite as good as last year. There was nothing overly spectacular about a lot of the music I heard all week. We're still along the same sound/trend as we were last year.
Lee and Danny were great as SSFD....playing exactly the type of stuff you'd expect them to play for the closing slot.
Squillace vs. D'Julz @ Ovum and Squillace vs. Matthias Tanzmann @ Circo Loco were great as well, but again....nothing you haven't heard before.
Seth Troxler definitely played stuff that you'd never hear anyone else play, which was awesome, but in general I find his programming to be very up and down at times.
Digweed @ the Vagabond on Saturday was hands down the best time I've ever seen him and is in the discussion for best set I've ever heard from him in general. I wouldn't even be able to describe the kind of stuff he was playing. His set was flawless from start to finish. One of the most technically amazing sets that I've ever witnessed.
Weather wasn't as great as last year either. There were a couple of crummy and chilly days along with a decent amount of rain.
The parties I ended up going to:
Wednesday Night - Ovum @ Shine (men, kinda disappointing)
Thursday Night - Hernan Cattaneo @ Shine (meh, kinda disappointing)
Friday Day - Circo Loco @ the Eden Roc (pretty fun, nothing overly spectacular about the music)
Friday Night - Danny Howells & Lee Burridge @ Aero Bar (horrible crowd, horrible venue)
Saturday Night - Digweed @ The Vagabond (amazing music, great venue, great crowd)
Sunday Day - SSSF (missed the 3 DJ's I wanted to see the most, the day had just as much bad music as good music for the 10 hours I was there. Paco, Lee & Danny, Seth Troxler = good, Everyone else = mediocre).
