Hi,

I have this problem. Im trying to format XP, and having great difficulty. If you HAVENT formatted in XP, please dont bother to reply, as formating XP is different (and more of a task) than formatting 98 and 95. Xp doesnt NOT have dos. There for you cant re start in dos and type format c:

Ive tried making a boot disk from within Xp by using the format/create boot disk function in my computer however this doesnt have the commands for format.

Does anyone know how to do it? Ive tried looking on the net but some of their descriptions are vaque as fuck.

try booting with the 2000 or XP CD. and run setup. You can either delete the partition, or re-format it. Should not be too hard

heh.

go to the bios and make sure "boot from cd" is the first option in the booting menu. also make sure your xp cd is *bootable*

btw... when it starts booting, it will require you to press anykey on your keyboard otherwise, it will boot from your harddrive.

It's always this way. As soon as you get used to the set-up,you have to format the disk
There are these winXp boot disks which will help you format the disk.
Fortunately, up to now, there was no neccesity to format my Hd,so I haven't mastered the ways.
