you do know i was actually joking when i said techno, the reason it's hard to pigeon-hole into a known genre is because it's a mishmash of the 90's hiphop influences coming out of the uk. the track itself was produced by graham massey (808 state) and nellee hooper (soul II soul), and their influence and the fact that björk used a little part of everything she discovered just became what it became

Because pop doesn't really mean anything IMO. It just means that it's popular music, which doesn't say much at all about the music itself.
And yes, montana, I didn't think you were entirely serious with the techno comment, but that was your "best" suggestion, so I put it up there with the rest of them. But I gotta say that I don't think that the tune sounds so weird and different that it's almost impossible to put it in a genre even though I can't come up with any similar stuff.
